ZT Safety makes senior business development appointment in Asia

17 December, 2014

ZT is pleased to announce the appointment of Keith Garland as Senior Business Development Manager for Asia. Keith has a vast experience of the construction industry, having specialised in risk management for multimillion dollar projects across the region since his move to Hong Kong in 2005.

The construction industry in Hong Kong and Macau in particular has experienced massive growth in recent years, mainly due to the increase in hotels and casino projects such as the Cotai Strip in Macau. Interestingly, Macau now exceeds Las Vegas in gambling turnover, reaching US$45bn in 2013 compared with US$6.5bn in Las Vegas. There is also a major bridge under construction that will link Macau, Zhuhai and Hong Kong, as well as a new rail interchange and 30 miles of underground rail line.

Keith Garland comments: “I am excited to be promoting the globally patented ZT Harness to the Asian market, where compulsory employee compensation insurance is expensive and there are a limited number of insurers underwriting for the construction industry.

“The insurance process works on a strict liability basis and it is not necessary for the injured employee to prove negligence,” he continues. “If an employee is injured, he will be awarded compensation and in Hong Kong, the employee can also seek additional compensation under Common Law. The unique design of the ZT Safety harness improves safety, resulting in fewer and less serious cases of injury or potential damage through suspension trauma, which will be welcomed by many employers within the industry.”
